Overview
The Durant is 56 furnished units and 144 beds of student housing in Berkeley, among university-owned housing and greek row, with study lounges and laundry rooms on each floor.
- Challenge
- UC Berkeley houses a small fraction of its students on campus and had gone decades without modern purpose-built housing on the south side. Sites one block from campus rarely trade.
- Vision
- We acquired a shovel-ready site one block south of campus in an off-market deal. Stanley Saitowitz designed the building, the first modern student housing on Southside.
- Results
- Delivered in March 2020, early and under budget. The building set the top of the Berkeley per-bed market in 2021 and was sold to the UC Regents in 2022.
