Developed by The Martin Group, the three-building community is scheduled for completion in 2023.

The Napa Valley College has started planning for a student housing community on its main campus just south of downtown Napa, Calif. According to Napa Valley Register, the construction is set to begin this fall, with completion scheduled for 2023.

The development team includes The Martin Group and HPI Architecture, per the college. The Guzzardo Partnership will work on landscape architecture, while The Scion Group is the student housing advisor of the project.

The college will fund the project through a public-private partnership in which a non-profit organization will enter into a ground lease of the property and issue tax-exempt bonds. Citibank acts as the underwriter for the development.

The upcoming on-campus community will comprise three buildings:

• a four-story property with 90 unfurnished units designed for older students with families;

• a four-story facility with 200 beds;

• a 212-bed residence hall.

Planned amenities include a clubhouse, shared kitchens, study rooms, outdoor courtyards, laundry facilities and bike storage. The community will also have 238 parking spaces.

Located just off California State Route 221 and across from Napa State Hospital, NVC is 2 miles from downtown Napa. The college is approximately 10 miles from Interstate 80.

The national supply of student housing developments is projected to slow down throughout this year. Forecasts show that approximately 39,000 beds are to be delivered by the end of 2021, which is 20 percent less than the five-year historical average of completions.
